Growing up Michaela Leon could never sit still. Her mother put her in dance, gymnastics, musical theatre, choir, pageants, tae kwan do, and skateboarding lessons to combat her restlessness. Michaela made her family sit through many livingroom shows, filled with dancing, singing, and lots of goofy faces. As well as many trips to the ER because despite her 20+ years of dance training, she is a total klutz. From the age of 9, Michaela ruled the stage and on Friday nights the pool bar, where she was the crowd favorite at her Uncle’s wrestling shows. Needless to say, she has never been one to blend in.
ABOUT MICHAELA
Living vicariously through the stories on her screen, Michaela found herself, companionship, and solace through her loneliest and darkest moments. She wants to bring characters and stories to life that will make the unseen feel seen. When someone says “This movie shaped me” Michaela wants them to be speaking of her films. She is dedicated to showing society how beautifully complex humans can be. Michaela wants to show people that being different is okay and that no part of you is “too ugly” to be seen.
Throughout college, Michaela has been in multiple plays, student films, and most recently just wrapped her first feature film, and she has no plans on slowing down anytime soon. Her favorite project to date is a pilot she did at Chapman University called Grouped. The project Michaela is most proud of is an original play she wrote with Olivia Garrity and Tabitha Snavely titled Through Our Eyes. The Through Our Eyes team plans to take the play Hollywood Fringe in 2025, updates coming soon.
Dance was Michaela’s first love. Through her exploration of movement, Michaela found autonomy of her artistry. She spent twenty-five hours a week at the studio, and would beg her mom to let her dedicate more time to dance. Her dad should have known she was never going to be a doctor… Michaela currently trains with Lume Dance Collective in Los Angeles, under the direction of Monika Felice Smith and Mary-Ann Chavez. Although acting is now Michaela’s focus, dance will always be apart of her life. She plans to choreograph and shape the minds of generations to come. You know what they say, you never forget your first love.
